From tools of the trade to ingredients, find out more about what goes into making pizza at Vito's wine cellar
When we decided to begin offering pizza, we knew we had to go above and beyond to truly create something special that would compliment our exquisite wines. So, we began researching and studying the classic techniques and processes of French and Italian bread-making to ensure we could truly perfect an artisan-style pizza dough. Then, we moved on to the ingredients: finely-milled, delicate flours from Italy, blended cheeses from cow and buffalo milk, sourced from local creameries in Pennsylvania, hand-crushed tomatoes, and fresh olive oil, infused with Italian herbs. Finally, we searched for the highest quality, handcrafted, wood-fired pizza oven we could get our hands on; made in Italy, this oven was custom built and hand-tiled, featuring a single stone, rotating deck, to ensure perfectly baked pizzas, every single time.
